The Federal Government has an incentive program to encourage families to save for their children’s future. Eligible families can receive up to $2000.00 in funding.

The Government of Canada contributes:

  • $500.00 for the first year of eligibility

  • $100.00 for each year the child continues to be eligible (up to and including the benefit year in which they turn 15) for a total benefit of $2000.00

This money can help cover the costs of tuition, books, tools, transportation, and housing.

You do not need to put any money into the RESP to receive the Canada Learning Bond.

Children under the age of 18

A child is eligible for the CLB if they:

  • Meet the income threshold for eligibility.

  • Are born on or after January 1, 2004.

  • Are a resident of Canada.

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).

  • Are named as a beneficiary on a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)
